[ Summary ] Concerning therapy for acute renal failure, the study of apoptosis, repair and regeneration of renal tubular cells after ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) is being improved through developments in molecular biology. One of the most powerful at post-genomic technologies concerns microarrays. Using an Affymetrix GeneChip, on which 25 mer oligonucleotides were synthesized, we analyzed comprehensive gene alteration of after IRI. Those genes related to tissue repair were prominent. After this procedure, overexpression of klotho and ATF3 genes, which were selected from the altered genes prevented the deterioration of renal functions after IRI.
