[ Summary ] | Anthropometry has not been widely used to assess nutritional status in maintenance dialysis patients. Recently, it has been found that the new Japanese anthropometric standard (JARD 2001) measured by simple equipment (Dinabot kit) has proven usefulness in various clinical fields. In addition, anthropometric results obtained by Bio-impedance analysis or DEXA method, have shown that there was a strong correlation between nutritional status and fat components in dialysis patients. We evaluated the anthropometric parameters including %TSF (triceps skinfold thickness) and %AMC (arm muscle circumference) measured by Dinabot kit. The values of %TSF markedly increased in association with improvement in nutritional condition. Otherwise, the values of %AMC did not change significantly. These findings indicate that %TSF is a useful and sensitive nutritional indicator for dialysis patients. |
