[ Summary ] The mean age of incident dialysis and prevalent dialysis patients is increasing. The most frequent disease for these patients is now diabetic nephropathy. Malnutirition is frequentry recognized in ESRD patients, and it is focused on as an indicator for the prognosis of ESRD patients. Analyses of factors associated with malnutrition and related prognoses suggested that hypoalbuminemia, low PCR and low T-chol are considered as useful predictors of mortality in dialysis patients. We should be take every effort to avoid malnutrition, to improve long term prognoses for dialysis patients.
