[ Summary ] For effective communication with dialysis patients, counseling skills are very useful. To develop effective communication with others, the dialysis unit staff may not instantly achieve proper techniques. However we must understand how to communicate and what the effects on communication are, in terms of verbal and non-verbal communication, the relationship between staff members and patients, the general communication environment, etc. We must control these elements, if we hope to achieve good communication with dialysis patients and their families. We can also acquire communication skills through learning psychology or sociology and having experience in interview role playing.
