[ Summary ] Less acidic dialysis fluids have been developed using a two-compartment system. The new fluids, which show higher pH and lower levels of GDPs, are considered more biocompatible than conventional acidic fluids. Although the problems with higher glucose levels and lower capacity of water removal remains to be resolved, our study and other recent reports have suggested that a neutral dialysate might positively impact the peritoneal membrane because of reduced inflammation.
