[ Summary ] The anthropometric method is a simple, easy and noninvasive way to achieve nutritional evaluation. Bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA) is simple, easy and noninvasive, with highly reproducible measurements, also. These parameters may be indespensable in evaluating the clinical course of nutritional status for dialysis patients. Particularly, they can evaluate the adequacy of nutritional status and dialysis dosage for patients and to help measure muscle mass, in relation to body composition. On the other hand, the parameters of the anthropometric method, including BIA, may produce errors depending on the measurement skills of the care giver and degree of edema. Therefore, both nutritional parameters and subjective global assessments may be necessary in order to evaluate clinical nutritional status.
