[ Summary ] Recently in Japan, there have been three types of authorization systems for clinical nursing specialists. One is that from the Japanese Nursing Association; the other is that from the Japan Academy of Nursing, and third is graduate education. This year, these authorization systems for clinical nursing specialists for dialysis have developed a certification program cooperating with the Japan Academy of Nephrology Nursing, the Japanese Society of Nephrology, and the Japanese Society of Dialysis Therapy. This certification program requires special training programs, case reports, and qualification testing for the clinical nursing specialists. We expect that this system will lead to improvements in knowledge and skills of nurses engaged in dialysis treatment and establishment of evaluations for specialized nurses with the responsibility of performing dialysis medical treatment.
