[ Summary ] Renal hyperparathyroidism (2°HPT) is a serious complication for long-term dialysis patients. Newly established agents to control conditions related to calcium-phosphate metabolism have been receiving increasing attention in the field of medical management for 2°HPT. However, severe 2°HPT should still be indicated for carious interventional therapies, such as PEIT, PIT, and parathyroidectomy. These drugs not only reduce indications for interventional therapy, but also may be used as injected agents. In addition, they should be helpful in controlling 2°HPT after interventional therapy. This paper outlines the potentials of these agents.
