[ Summary ] Acyclovir often produces serious neurological symptoms in patients undergoing dialysis therapy by the elongation of the plasma half-life. The neurological symptoms, which are non-specific, disappear with the cessation of acyclovir administration and due to both hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration. To prevent the manifestation of this adverse-effect, physicians should prescribe the proper dosage of acyclovir for the patients in consideration of the stage of renal insufficiency and condition of the paitients.
