Title Removal of radiocontrast agents by hemodialysis
Publish Date 2002/07
Author Teruyo Kusaba Department of Internal Medicine, St. Francis Hospital
[ Summary ] The removal of radiocontrast agents by hemodialysis was evaluated in chronic hemodialysis patients. In angiography, the reduction rate of blood iodine concentration after first 4-hr hemodialysis was around 80% and the radiocontrast agents were completely removed after three hemodialysis sessions. In myelography, 6 hemodialysis sessions were needed for the complete removal of the radiocontrast agents. Hemodialysis for the patients should be undertaken immediately after diagnostic methods used radiocontrast agents in order to avoid possible side effects in chronic hemodialysis patients.
