[ Summary ] We described TPN management techniques for a patient with encapsulated peritoneal sclerosis (EPS), receiving hemodialysis (HD). We selected the proper types of TPN for his nutrition management, because he was in a malnourished state, due to having had a bowel obstruction for a proloxged period. However, he could receive TPN and oral nutrition at the same time because he did not have a complete bowel obstruction. Therefore, a dietitian on our team played a leading role in providing oral intake. As oral intake gradually increased, we decreased the amount of TPN. We then prepared for home parenteral nutrition (HPN). The nursing staff coached them on puncture techniques for a porto-reservoir and other management methods for HPN. We were able to successfully manage an EPS patient using TPN and oral intake.
