[ Summary ] We discussed the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment related to upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding in dialysis patients. Generally, both gastritis and acute gastric mucosal lesions are common in the upper gastrointestinal tract of chronic dialysis patients. However, ulcerous lesions are more frequent than erosions, in terms of gastro-intestinal bleeding. In the case of bleeding caused by ulcers, it is desirable to carry out emergency gastrointestinal scope procedures and appropriate hemostatic procedures as soon as possible in relation to surgical procedures. If this is not done, we must proceed on to emergency operations leading to poor prognosis in some cases. Since strong antacid drugs such as H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors, may both be administed intro venously, comprehensive management, including fiberscopic hemostasis, surgical procedures and antacid drugs should be considered.
