[ Summary ] CRIT-LINETM (CRM) is a system for continuously monitoring blood volume changes (BV%) during hemodialysis, using a noninvasive optical technique to measure absolute hematocrit. When the rate of ultrafiltration exceeds the capacity to refill the intra vascular space, a reduction in the circulating blood volume occurs. By monitoring this BV% during dialysis, non-symptomatic dialysis becomes possible. Also, measurements of access flow and re-circulation rates become possible by using dilution techniques. CRM is an indispensable tool in dialysis sessions associated with disdialysis.
