[ Summary ] Cardiovascular complications are a major cause of death for hemodialysis patients. In this review, we focused on ischemic heart disease and cardiac hypertrophy, both of which are quite common cardiovascular complications. According to previous reports, they are nearly complete at the induction of hemodialysis. More than half of all patients became symptomatic by 2 years after induction of hemodialysis. Therefore, the risk factor for ateroscrelosis and cardiovascular overloading should be avoided in the early phases of end stage renal disease. Observation of ateros clerosis, using ultra sound, pulse wave veracity, ankle brachial pressure index etc., is important for daily examination.
