[ Summary ] Dementia is defined as the chronic and progressive disease, which impairs intellectual function. Dementia is common disease, usually diagnosis is poor or therapeutic intervention is supposed to be difficult. In this article the advance in medicine, the diagnostic criteria, the new discovery in the field of biochemistry, and new aspects on this field, will be outlined.
