[ Summary ] Next to circulatory disease, cerebrovascular disorder and infection, malignant tumor ranks high among the causes of death of dialysis patients. In addition to aging of the patient, malignant tumor is triggered by various factors including hepatitis C virus infection, decreased cellular immunity, and others. Surgery is a basic form of treatment for localized malignant tumors while inoperable patients and those with tumors which tend to exhibit systemic metastasis such as malignant lymphoma and blood disease, etc. are treated with anticancer drugs. However, the effective range of many anticancer drugs is limited. As a result, such drugs may quickly reach toxic levels in the blood of dialysis patients, whose metabolism and excretion of anticancer drugs have yet to be clarified. It is thus important to prepare an optimal treatment plan. This report describes general methods of administration of anticancer drugs in the treatment of malignant tumors, tbe incidence of which in dialysis patients is on the increase.
