[ Summary ] Various types of electrolyte disturbance are frequently encountered in generalized disorders, however, apheresis therapy is sometimes ignored. Apheresis improved patients condition markedly, when it is indicated suitably. In electrolyte disorders with generalized disorders, apheresis is recommended in conditions as followed; (1) Apheresis is effective for the treatment of electrolyte disorders itself, such as hyperkalemia. (2) Apheresis is effective for the treatment of original disorders, which induces electrolyte disorders. (3) Apheresis is indicated for the treatment of acute or chronic renal failure which is the cause or the result of electrolytes disturhances. In most cases, apheresis therapy is indicated as an emergency, and the best maneuver of apheresis should be choosed.
