[ Summary ] The aim of vitamin D administration in the postoperative period of parathyroidectomy (PTX) is to prevent hypocalcemia and hypophosphatemia caused by hungry bone syndrome. On the other hand, oral vitamin D pulse therapy is usually applied to patients following percutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) to avoid the recurrence of hyperpara thyroidism. In any cases, it is important to monitor serum PTH, calcium and phosphorus concentrations to determine optimal vitamin D doses.
