[ Summary ] Vitamin D pulse therapy is a therapeutical method, used to suppress refractory secondary hyperparathyroidism through intermittent large dosages of 1,25 D3 to ESRD patients. Since, we cannot use intravenous administration of this medication in Japan, oral vitamin D pulse therapy has heen developed. This treatment consists of oral dosages of 2.O-8.0µg of even in Japan also. However, in patients with chronic renal failure on predialysis phase, or receiving CAPD home HD, or kidney trans plants, oral vitamin D pulse therapy may be essential in the future.
