[ Summary ] Dry weight(DW), ambiguously defined as the body weight at euvolemic state or the minimum body weight below which hypovolemic hypotension occurs, is a "Moving Target". In dialysis patients with cardiovascular complications, the optimum DW free from circulatory failure cannot be defined uniformly, and the safe range is narrow in severe cases. It is impossible to determine an optimum DW in all such dialysis patients by using a single method. Currently, it is essential to understand the characteristics of several different methods for DW evaluation and to clarify which of the above mentioned definitions of the DW should be applied in each case. Then, optimum DW should be sought by using plural methods.
