[ Summary ] Many factors and conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, dialysis-induced rapid changes in plasma electrolytes and rapid decreases in circulating blood volume, influence the causes of cardiac arrhythmias in hemodialysis patients. As in fact, cardiac arrhythmias are often seen in hemodialysis patients. Particularly, premature ventricular contractions (PVC), classified as 3, 4 or 5 on Lown's grading scale which are more frequently documented than in normal populations. To evaluate arrhythmias, it is necessary to detect arrhythmias by using a Holer ECG and checking the conditions that cause arrhythmias. The essential approach for treatment of arrhythmia is to minimize and/or remove arrhythmogenic factors. Administration of antiarrhythmic drugs or interventions, such as catheter ablation or pacemakers should be made available when the patient does not respond to initial treatment. The pharmacokinetics of antiarrhythmic drugs must be considered in relation to hemodialysis patients' condition.
