[ Summary ] The mechanism of glucose-induced insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells remains to be established.
One well established pathway is the "ionic branch" which involves ATP sensitive K channels and calcium influx.
We discovered the "non-ionic branch" of glucose-induced insulin secretion, and searched for possible candidates related to this mechanisms. Newer technologies enables us to find novel aspects of the insulin secretion mechanism.
