[ Summary ] Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and enteral nutrition are two methods of nutrition control for patients undergoing dialysis. Enteral nutrition consists of enteral nutrition materials, which are medical drugs, and liquid diets, which are nutritional supplements. Many of these are over-the-counter drugs. It is essential to consider the condition of patients and problems in dialysis therapy and to use these diets effectively in order to prevent the occurrence of complications, including malnutrition. Therefore, it is very important to recognize the condition of patients, in order to consider proper diets from the early stages on, and to prescribe appropriate diets.
