[ Summary ] An expert nurse is an helping profession. The helping is accomplished by promoting internal human growth with the goal being self help. The helper uses the concept of self as a tool "and reacts instantly. An expert nurse has two sets of "The Three Sacred Treasure" : one set of a helping profession consists of 1) current knowledge about nursing science, 2) evidence based nursing skill, and 3) maintenance of knowledge and skill; the other of dialysis nursing consists of 1) nursing care directly related homodialysis therapy, 2) nursing care commonly given in all situations, and 3) nursing care using the nurse's own personaIity. A hospital or a clinic has to support an expert nurse to keep these treasures shining. We also need to develop a social system to support and insure individuaIs and dialysis institutes.
