[ Summary ] The characteristics of medical care for patients on dialysis are complicated and multifactorial. For instance, chronic renal failure (CRF) is not solely a discase of the kidney. It is a systemic disease, Whose clinical manifestations include disorders of many organs and systems such as the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, hematological, respiratory, dermatological and psychological systems. Therefore, nurses specialized in dialysis must have a good understanding and knowledge of, these clinical diseases. Based on information from patients on dialysis, nurses specialized in dialysis would plan individual care for the future of the patient, to achieve better QOL and ADL. Furthermore, since dialysis related medical care has shown remarkably rapid technological progress. Nurses must keep up with this progress, by being alert to new medical information through continuous education and study. In a system of good nursing care for dialysis patients, individual problems should be analyzed, from the viewpoint of physical, mental, and social problems.
