[ Summary ] The average age of dialysis patients who live alone is significantly younger than of those living with someone. The body mass index (BMI) of dialysis patients over sixty-five years old living alone was found to be significantly lower. Nutritional guidance should be given patients to manage their own care while eating out or consuming food on the open market. We should emphasize guidance with hands-on cooking as well. It is thought that food intake tendencies and quantities should be based on test data. The use of special dietary foods, nutrition drugs, food supple ments, etc is also required. Prevention of malnutrition and assistance for instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) are required for aged patients. Home visits by dietitians and door-to-door-food delivery should be the subject of further study.
