[ Summary ] About 50% of dialysis patients desired Home Meal Replacements (HMR) according to our surveys in 1998 and in 1999. The cost that a patient wants to spend averages \500 per meal. As a result, the Home meal replacement System Service Association (HMRSSA) was established with the participation of 38 companies in February 1999. HMRSSA researches and develops food services that are designed to meet the guidelines of the international sanitation standards, Hazard AnalysisCritical Point (HACCP), and the ISO 14001 environmental standard. Research by HMRS SA includes the standardization of selected menus, chilled delivery of HMR, a cookchill system, and souvet.
