[ Summary ] For patients who receive long-term hemodialysis (HD), their advancing old age causes special problems for the technical management of HD treament. Moreover, the number of old-aged patients starting HD is currently increasing. These patients have various complications, including cardiac disease, reduced physical activity due to osteoarthropathy, and / or mental disturbances (senile dementia, etc). To improve their quality of life, various clinical techniques for managing these old-aged patients are required. We will report on our clinical experience with HD technical management in respect to maintaining blood access, determining adequate dialysis, and preventing various infections.
