[ Summary ] The most important function of the kidneys is the maintainance of the homeostasis of water and eiectrolytes and an acid-base balance. This homeostasis is lost and imbalances in body fluids and electrolytes occur easily in cases of chronic renal failure.
We choose various types of dialysis for the treatment of these disorder. According to the patient's complications and their condition, we may use continuous hemodialysis or CAPD methods, also.
Electrolytes and alkaline buffers in the dialysate have a much greater effect than the selection of dialysis method in the management of disorders associated with electrolytes and acid-base balance in the blood.
