[ Summary ] Because of an increase in the average age of the population, the number of elderly dialysis patients has received a great deal of attention. It is necessary to note the onset of mental disorders in elderly dialysis patients. Mental disorders in elderly dialysis patients are related to organic brain disorder components. Symptom of character change include dementia, depressive states, delirium, hallucinatory fantasies, and sleeplessness. The fundamental treatments are psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. To determine the clinical uses of psychiatric drugs in elderly dialysis patients, selection and quantitative regulation of psychiatric drugs are both necessary.
