[ Summary ] The measurement of plasma solute must be excluded in patients with chronic renal failure or severe anemia. Ultrafiltrate solutions with solutes smaller in size than a molecular weight of 3,000 were filtered out using UF cells because electrodes for sodium and potassium, and UN need to be continuously measured in hemodialysis patients. Hydrosis of urea in ultrafiltrate solutions were acted by urease. Speed of change in conductivity of ammonium carbonate was measured by the conductivity of electrodes. The UN concentration of plasma was thus measured, using continuous monitoring during hemodialysis of chronic renal failure patients. The safety of programmed hemodialysis and the decreased work load for health care providers has established the need for this system.
