| [ Summary ] | In the spring of 1996, we experienced very serious epidemics of E.coli O157(EHEC) infections, in which many children in western Japan suffered from hemolytic uremic syndrome(HUS). Twelve patients died of complications. The Stx HUS that is associated with EHEC infection is the most prevalent type of HUS. I will primarily discuss the symptomatic treatment of the disease and additionally recently investigated drug, Synsorb PK. |
