| [ Summary ] | Acute inflammation of the pancreas may spread rapidly, with a significant release of proinflammatory cytokines, leading to multiple organ failure. Blood purification may clinically improve circulatory and respiratory functions or other in such processes. Several reports have suggested that CHDF may reduce the serum concentrations of cytokines and may reduce mortality. To evaluate indications and methodology for use of CHDF in treatment of severe acute pancreatitis, controlled studies must be performed. | |
