[ Summary ] In an attempt to effectively utilize computers for dialysis, a Nipro dialysis information control system, (hereafter called the present system) was used in order to facilitate the centralized control of dialysis information, increase efficiency of activities, and improve patient service. The present system consists of two separate components, namely a host system and a terminal system. As a transmission medium between systems, optical memory cards are used. The host system controls and accumulates dialysis information, and generates various forms, while the terminal system has capabilities to collect and submit information about patients under dialysis treatment, and achieves the goal of a paperless system by automatically preparing the dialysis records. The present system organically links these capabilities and assists the activities of the dialysis section. It is designed for user-friendliness so that the whole staff can easily master its operation.
