[ Summary ] In 1992, we composed a simple data base system for dialysis therapy using the Macintosh personal computer and a popular data base software program, the Filemaker Pro. Despite several deficiencies for professional use, the system is capable of being operated constantly even in a dialysis unit with frequent personnel changes by virtue of its flexibility and user-friendly interface. The system requires no intense training for beginners to operate, and its operation can be easily integrated into the routine work of a dialysis unit. Indeed, as many as 10 dialysis units in the past 6 years have adopted this system because of its utility. We think the presentation of these processes and experiences outlined herein would be helpful to those planning to create a dialysis data base system elsewhere.
