[ Summary ] The Japan Hospital Quality Assurance Society has begun its regular activity as of 1997, We had an evaluation from the society in April, 1997, and were accredited as appropriate.
Based upon this experience, we concluded that evaluations done by the society are very valuable especially for the future hospital plan, though we noted that there are some important fields in which evaluation is extremely difficult. These problems remain to be solved.
In dialysis medicine, the necessity of evaluating the institute from various points of view is crucial. Furthermore, well-considered and precise criteria should be established. As the first step, the minimal requirements which dialysis institutes must fulfil were proposed privately.
