[ Summary ] We need to develop the knowledge and the ability of nursing care to cope with the progress in dialysis therapy and the change in patients' situations. From this point of view, it is necessary for the director/teacher to take the initiative in learning about education for new staff in the dialysis unit. In other words, the director/teacher needs to have an attitude that will let him or her learn from the learner. A practical program of education for dialysis nursing care is useful. It is necessary to evaluate, and have revisions by a director/teacher and self-evaluations by the new staff. It is most important to have a common "point of view on nursing care" between the director/teacher and as new staff. This common understanding is necessary to create successes with the staff's education as special dialysis nurses.
