[ Summary ] I will introduce a typical patient who lost the sight due to diabetic retinitis. I considered methods of nursing in retrospect focusing on the patients' psychological reactions to blindness.
The patients who were suited for the introduction of dialysis and "Loss experiences" of visual impairment plays. "Work for reaching to accept it". Therefore, they show reactions such as denial, anger.
After we do mental support nursing, it is important to supply an environment where by it is easy to take out frastration.
Furthermore, with visually impair patients, the sense of hearing and sense of smell are keen. So, a caring voice in which there is compassion is especially important.
Certainly our patients will come to be more trusting of our care if we pay attention to this point.
