While many kinds of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) measurement scales are currently available, appropriate measures must be chosen for proper evaluation of medical care. HRQOL scales are classified into various categories : generic measures and disease specific measures, and both multi-dimensional and single-dimension scales. This report discusses the characteristics, purposes and the strengths and weaknesses of each type of measure giving examples of some frequently used HRQOL scales. |
