| [ Summary ] | Several epidemiological studies have shown that the risk of stroke, particularly that of cerebral hemorrhage, is increased in patients receiving chronic dialysis. In a prospective study, we demonstrated that hypertension plays a significant role. Factors other than poor control of blood pressure, such as being on dialysis, predialysis comorbid conditions, and pathological changes related to prolonged dialysis, are discussed herein. | |
