[ Summary ] The main features of the cerebrovascular system are briefly described. To accurately understand the cerebrovascular system, it is necessary to fully comprehend the relation between the morphology of the brain and its vascular supply. A new classification based on the intracerebral areas of vascular distributions is considered to be very important in relation to clinical neurosymptomatology, because various past classifications based on the branching of vessels in the subarachnoid space were impractical due to abundant variations. There are obvious morphological differences between the arterial and venous supplies of the brain.
