[ Summary ] Anatomically, the lung consists of broncho-alveolar, pulmonary circulatory, bronchial arterio-venous and lymphatic systems. The broncho-alveolar system can be divided into three zones : the conducting, transitional and respiratory zones. The function of the conducting zone is air passage ; that of the respiratory zone is gas exchange and the transitional zone has both functions.
There are many pulmonary complications in hemodialysis patients. The histopathological findings of pulmonary infectious diseases (tuberculosis, mycosis) , pulmonary edema and pulmonary calcinosis in these patients are described.
