[ Summary ] Relative "hypoparathyroidism" for thier damaged renal function in non-dialytic as well as dialytic chronic renal failure paitents has been strongly paid attention. The pathogenesis of it has not been fully uncovered. Supplemented high serum calcium (Ca) levels due to Ca from dialysis fluid, oral Ca-containing phosphate (P) binders, and "overtreatment" by active vitamin D metabolites are discussed. Aluminum (Al)-containing P binders and other antacid medicines are also responsible to the decreased PTH secretion through the elevated plasma Al levels.
