| [ Summary ] | CT and MRI are major tools for evaluation of colorectal cancer patients. Preliminary reports have described conventional CT and MRI features of colorectal carcinomas demonstrating local invasion and metastasis to regional nodes and distant organs, but the staging accuracies are not sufficient. However, recent technologies have created multi-detector row CT and thin-section MRI, as new techniques for visualization of colorectal lesions. These methods are excellent for detecting small metastases, especially in lymph nodes, and each has a great potential to be a modality for the diagnosis of local recurrence and/or metastatic lesions after the surgery. Both can be expected to improve diagnostic performance in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer recurrence. | |
