[ Summary ] Laparoscopic surgery has been performed for various diseases of the digestive organs. The benefits of laparoscopic surgery include decreased postoperative pain and smaller incisions. The practice of laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gall stone disease has been established because of the simplicity of the procedure and also the benign nature of the disease. For colorectal neoplasia, endoscopic resection is a less invasive treatment modality so endoscopists should not easily suggest to need laparoscopic surgery. It is helpful for them to have a good knowledge of laparoscopic colorectal procedures. In this paper we showed the indications for right-sided laparoscopic colectomies and how we perform it.
It has been reported that port site recurrences might be a surgeon-related variable, dependent mainly on the surgeon's experience and technical expertise. The number of recurrences may be almost the same as those seen with endoscopic resection. Both are suitable techniques. Guidelines have been proposed to reduce the incidence of recurrence.
