[ Summary ] Many small lesions in the colorectum were invastigated to determine the indication of treatment. In relation to minute(5mm or less in size) protruding, flat elevated and nodule aggregating neoplastic lesions, they displayed a low incidence of cancer and the number of protruding and flat elevated lesions was high. Therefore, endoscopic biopsy was done first and when cancer was suspected, endoscopic treatment was indicated. As for minute flat depressed neoplastic lesions, they displayed a high incidence of cancer and they were low in number. We thought that active endoscopic treatment was indicated for flat depressed lesions. As for lesions over 5mm to 10mm or less in size, lesions of all types displayed a high incidence of cancer. Endoscopic biopsy was done first and when lesion was diagnosed for neoplasm, endoscopic treatment was indicated. However, when sm massive invasion was suspected because of the results of routine colonoscopy, other diagnostic modalities appropriate for the level of cancer depth were needed.
