[ Summary ] In small-bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) for Crohn's disease (CD), the patency capsule (PC) is used to evaluate intestinal patency; however, an error in the evaluation of patency may result in retention of the capsule. In addition, the parylene coating in the PC may not pass through the stenosis and may remain in the intestinal tract as in SBCE. We will outline the salvage of the SBCE and PC parylene coating using endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD) and will present a case study.
