[ Summary ] Most infectious colitis is naturally improved by symptomatic treatment, however, it is sometimes difficult to make a definitive diagnosis. Although it is imperative to detect pathogens to confirm the diagnosis, identification of each pathogen which causes infectious colitis still remains difficult.
It is necessary to identify infecting antigens and differential diagnosis by their typical image findings as well as history and clinical course.
This article describes the difference between intestinal tract infections and acute inflammatory bowel disease in which clinical features are similar to infectious colitis.
