[ Summary ] Goblet cell carcinoids (GCC) are rare tumors of the appendix that present histological features of both carcinoid like and adenocarcinoma like structures. Pathological diagnosis is relatively easy because GCC exhibits characteristic pathological features. There are several opinions concerning the genesis disease and concepts for GCC. We should emphasize that appendiceal GCC has distinctive clinicopathological features portraying aggressive behavior as well as adenocarcinomatous features. Therefor, we think that GCC is a variant of adenocarcinoma rather than a variant carcinoid.
