[ Summary ] Balloon-assisted enteroscopy has enabled us to perform endoscopic treatment even deep in the small intestine. Acute pancreatitis, aspiration pneumonia, perforation, bleeding and intussusception are known adverse events associated with balloon-assisted enteroscopy. The characteristics of balloon-assisted enteroscopy and anatomical features of the small intestine may be related to those adverse events. We believe that an appropriate strategy considering causes of adverse events may reduce frequency of these adverse events.
